The bigger picture

Is a higher per-IBC price actually cheaper overall?

When you factor in administration time, emergency top-up costs and the consequence of supply failure, the total cost of unmanaged supply is consistently higher than it appears.

Admin savings

At £30–50/hr for a manager’s time, 2–4 hours per order cycle amounts to £60–200 per IBC in overhead before the product is even used.

Emergency top-up cost

Forecourt 10-litre containers run at 2–3× the delivered per-litre price. One emergency fill for a single vehicle can cost £80–130 above what a managed delivery would have cost.

Supply certainty premium

During the 2021 shortage, unmanaged prices spiked to £450–550/IBC. Managed accounts with forward-scheduled delivery were protected. The certainty has a real and quantifiable value.
